I have worked out for as long as I can remember, while it was step classes, kickboxing or spin classes, I always wanted to take care of myself and stay fit. Now that I am in my late 30’s, I wanted step out of my comfort zone and dabble in weight training. I no longer want to do endless hours of cardio, I want to be strong and build muscle. I wanted to lift weights like I see others in the gym and be comfortable and know what I am doing. This is a whole new ball game! I decided to start training with a longtime friend of mine Angela Yeo whom I watched transform her body the past few years into a beautifully sculpted machine. Not only did Angela provide a very clean, comfortable environment at Total Nutrition, she took the time to really focus on ME during our training sessions. With her knowledge and experience, she really took the time to educate me on what we were doing, tell me how to do each exercise correctly and which muscles we were working on. Angela was my biggest cheerleader and even if I was having a bad workout day or just not feeling it, I always left our sessions feeling worked and awesome! She pushed me to do things I never thought I could do in the gym. I definitely saw a change in my shape for the first time in years and I am now stronger than I was in my 20’s.

Working with Anji was much more than I could have ever expected. It was hard and challenging, but rewarding at the same time. I first meet Anjie back in 2nd grade. I was the weird new kid and she let me call her my former best friend’s name, hey I know, I already said I was a weird kid. But Anjie rolled with it and we were in the same group of friends through high school. We lost touch, because hey, that happens, but through the gift that is Facebook, I got to see her transformation into the strong, confident, kickass, athlete that she’s become today. The daily grind and her dedication to the lifestyle that is fitness is fucking inspiring.

Angie’s obviously very knowledgeable about the human body and how to put it through it’s paces. On top of that Anjie truly cares about getting you whole body healthy and has knowledge about diet that is a valuable pairing with the physical workouts she provides.

Though her greatest asset, and the reason I recommend her as a top choice for your next personal trainer, is her capacity for compassion while still keeping you accountable to your goals. She will push you. You will hate her at times. But you will give more than you thought possible of yourself. Making you realize that yes you can actually do this… and more!

Oh and I couldn’t write a review and not mention Zeus, the Total Nutrition mascot. After Anjie’s kicked your ass with a good session, take a minute to soak up some post workout love with doggie pets.

I spent nine hours with Angela Yeo over the course of two and a half weeks, and I am happy to recommend her to anyone that is SERIOUS about their goals. I am a total gym n00b, I have had surgeries on all my limbs, however, she worked within these constraints and made me really feel like I CAN DO THIS. She is serious about the workout, but knows when to laugh. She pushed me HARD, and that is what I needed – I know if I had tried the same type stuff without her I would have given up (if I even had the guts to try in the first place). She drives her clients to PUSH HARD, be patient, and adapt, because the same thing does not work for every person. Every session we talked about how I felt about the previous session, what I had done in between sessions, how my diet and attitude (in life as well as in the gym) was, and she gave me an overview of what was on the agenda for that day, then BOOM, time to work. She gave me reasonable and realistic “homework” for me to do in the gym on my own and even gave me a diet challenge. She is awesome, and as you can see, she practices what she preaches. I always felt safe in the gym, even though I was pushing myself so hard, I never felt I was going to drop weight or injure myself. I happily recommend her, and I will return to her myself as well.

Self discipline you say?? Well, in my opinion, you either have it, or you don’t! But if you don’t, can you admit it? For me, that’s a big UHHH YEAHHH!! I HAVE the work ethic! I HAVE the desire! But I really need help when it comes to “getting it together.” Enter PNBA/Certified Personal Trainer Anjie Yeo!! She’s an absolute joy to work with. Very professional, yet just enough quirk to make it fun. Having suffered some very serious injuries in the past, she knows my strengths as well as my weaknesses and we equally work on both. Her undeniable encouragement makes me WANT to do well, both inside, and outside of the gym. Since working with Anjie, one of my favorite quotes is, “Get fit in the gym, lose weight in the kitchen.” Anjie works with you on ALL aspects of your journey! Give her a try! She stood by my side and encouraged every single step as any great trainer/coach should. She creates a positive atmosphere to persevere and blast through every workouts! Just look at her photos, need I say more?? I’d say she’s as close to perfection as a human body can get.
